quickly implement and reorganize their business
processes to create more business value by enhancing the
operational efficiency to the maximum. Enterprise
processes are of significant importance to achieve
competitiveness in today’s fast paced economy. Business
Process Management (BPM) has evolved from a mere white
board kind of a tool to a complete solution that
provides tools to model, implement, monitor and redesign
business processes. Enterprise processes comprising of
both automated as well as human activities are managed
by the business process management tool. It helps
organizations to respond quickly to the market needs by
rearranging their workflows without the need to
reprogram their technology solutions.

Solution
In order to implement business processes to
achieve flexibility and competitiveness, it is needed
that processes should be independent of the underlying
IT Systems. In other words, this system should consist
of two independent layers; process layer and the
implementation layer. This separation of process and
implementation layers prevents hard-coding of the
processes into a technology platform resulting in the
greater flexibility.
We also describe how our new approach, the use of SOA,
unlocks these constraints and frees the enterprise to
continue to utilize and benefit from their investment in
existing systems while also moving forward to take
